Established in the late 1980s and featuring a large sky theatre, which can house audiences of more than 200, the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium is a good place to learn about astronomy and the solar system. The main attractions are the astronomy shows, which take place twice daily, at 15:00 and again at 16:30, when the ceiling of the sky theatre is filled with star constellations.

Tipu Sultan's Palace is a modest building and just a short walk from the bustling City Market. Construction was completed in 1791, with the palace being built entirely from timber, including a number of elegant teak pillars. Attractions include a small photo gallery and the adjacent Venkataraman Temple.

The Bangalore Aquarium is amongst the city's most popular tourist attractions and perfect for a family day out, being founded in 1983. Housed within an imposing diamond-shaped building and located at the very entrance to Cubbon Park, you can expect to see many colourful and indigenous fish, displayed in a series of aquariums, both large and small, recreating natural habitats.

The striking ISKCON Temple Complex was built by the affluent International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and is known for its shiny exterior and lavish decorations. Located around 8 km / 5 miles to the north-west of Bangalore city centre, the ISKCON Temple features both modern and traditional Indian architecture, housing a series of theatres and a stunning central shrine. The temple is used by followers of the Hare Krishna faith and welcomes non-members.

Originally constructed in 1537 by Kempegowda as a mud-brick defence structure, Tipu Sultan's Fort was rebuilt during the 18th century in stone. The fort itself features detailed carved arches and Islamic-style architecture, although some of the building has suffered damage during wars.

The Jawahar Bal Bhavan is a particularly popular children's amusement park, complete with playground area and filled with attractions for all ages, including tree houses. Sited within Cubbon Park and featuring mini train rides, ponies, boat rides, an open-air theatre, eateries and many green areas, Jawahar Bal Bhavan covers around 12 acres / 5 hectares and also features a popular petting zoo, where children can get up close to friendly animals.
