Bangalore may not be home to dozens of notable art galleries, but it does contain some of India's best. The huge Gallerie Zen is one of the region's most notable commercial art galleries and a great place to purchase a souvenir painting in Bangalore, while for traditional art works, a visit to the Venkatappa Art Gallery, within Cubbon Park, will be in order.
With a strong Indian theme, the innumerable paintings within the Chitrakala Parishat (Art Complex) are well displayed in different gallery areas. Offering time to reflect, Bangalore's Gandhi Bhavan is full of images of spiritual leader, Mahatma Gandhi. The main art galleries are shown below.

This popular picture gallery is dedicated to the life of Mahatma Gandhi, with many images of this famous leader from his childhood onwards. Also on exhibit at this gallery are a number of Gandhi's personal effects, including letters and placards. The Bangalore Gandhi Bhavan is also home to a number of other notable institutions, such as the Gandhi Peace Organisation and also the Gandhi National Literature Library.

Home to more than 500 paintings of all descriptions, including many by local artist K. Venkatappa, the Venkatappa Art Gallery stands alongside the Government Museum. This cultural attraction is also known for its sculptures, many of which are religious and of historical significance. The Venkatappa Art Gallery is a pleasant way to spend a few hours and features many traditional pieces of the surrounding area, together with sketches and wood carvings.

With a large collection of traditional Indian paintings, the Chitrakala Parishat complex contains a number of different, themed galleries and studios, including the Roerich gallery. Also on exhibit here are numerous local artefacts from the Karnataka region, together with an outdoor theatre area, where many seasonal events take place.
